Working within the framework of their mandate, the Committee will:
- Explore new ways to recognize civic departments for creating fair and diverse work environments.
- Investigate an effective way to communicate with unions regarding employment equity programs and relevance to future collective agreements.
- Review the practices, policies and ability of the Citizen's Inquiry to serve a multi-cultural community.
- Communicate with Administration regarding highlighting diversity and equality in daily practice and policies. Encourage statement of commitments be drafted in business plans.
- Promote the importance of Administration advertising in community and cultural media outlets to reach a broader audience.
- Begin discussion with the Winnipeg Arts Advisory Council to foster broader public awareness about available arts funding and juries reflecting various communities.
- Develop new ways to celebrate community diversity.
- Continue assessing departmental progress in meeting employment benchmarks.
